WHO AM I?
Amanda Marion, Certified Barton Tutor with experience teaching all 10 levels of the Barton Reading & Spelling System. I’m a mother of three with 15 years of homeschooling experience.

My story begins several years ago when I started tutoring my son out of necessity. He adored hearing stories, but sadly never picked up a book to read for pleasure and had such a struggle learning spelling words. He also needed brain breaks as his focus was weak. I discovered that he had dyslexia and ADHD. I researched the best program and decided to use the Barton Reading & Spelling System and be his tutor at home. It was hard work but it produced results. We finished all 10 levels in 3 1/2 years and he is very proud of his accomplishment. He knows how to divide words into syllables and figure out how to read and spell them based on rules, prefixes/suffixes and Latin or Greek roots. He has built up a large vocabulary and capacity for reading. I’m so thankful I found Barton and used it to prepare him for his remaining school years and life beyond.
I now have a passion to help others with reading or spelling struggles.
WHAT DO I DO?
I offer one-on-one 50-minute tutoring sessions using the Barton Reading & Spelling System for students who are developing skills in reading, spelling, fluency and vocabulary. Sessions can take place online using Zoom and Whizzimo.
- My clients struggle with reading and spelling
- They may or may not have a diagnosis of dyslexia
- They range in age from 5 to senior adult
- They range in severity of dyslexia from mild to profound
- They may also have ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
In order to make progress, sessions need to be at least twice a week.
